Apparently due to several fatalities, it is now illegal to climb the pathway. However, most tourists just bypass the blocked entrances and climb anyway. The safety cables were also installed by an unknown person, and it is not known whether they can support the weight of a person, and most accounts I've read strongly doubt they can support the shock load of a fall.

Couldn't help but notice it was mostly 20-something males that were on the path :rolleyes:
