Has anyone watched the series by Ken Burns on America's National Parks? I've had to get them through Netflix, as I kept missing them on TV. Really good stuff, packed full of history & really enjoyable! If you've seen any of them, tell me what you think.

I don't think Ken Burns has done anything that I haven't enjoyed. I caught most, but not all of his documentary on the National Parks on TV. I thought it was excellent. Since watching it I've read books on Adolph and Olaus Murie and a couple by Kim Heacox. I had the chance to meet Burns just after his work on the Civil War. A nice guy too.

I watched the first two segments and loved them. I DVR'd the rest but have yet to watch. Couldn't get enough of anything related to John Muir, what a fascinating character. Also, the rich heiress son who dedicated his life to making Acadia a National Park.
Good stuff all around

I have Netflix, I'll check them out. Lately I've been watching "alone in the wilderness" a lot it seems.
Ah yes, the story of Dick Proenneke. Fascinating, isn't it? Makes you wanna go build a cabin somewhere. He was a marvel.

I agree, John Muir was quite a character. There's so much history packed into these segments, if you watch each one 2 or 3 times, you'll still catch something you missed before.
Thanks for the replies, guys, I was hopin' others liked the series
