Nomar
Maybe, just maybe, there still is loyalty in professional sports?

Awesome, thanks for posting that Majer! Funny, I haven't watched any sports news on tv all week. But on Tuesday, while throwing the ball around with my step-son, we were talking about past & present players. One of the questions was, "Is Nomar still playin?"
Glad he finished with the Sox, even for just a day. He's done a lot for charities and seems like a good guy. I was disappointed when the Sox traded him, but I guess it all worked out. Injuries have diminished many a good athlete. I do wish the Sox moved him to first, at least for a short period, long before the deadline. Don't know how the ss spot would've worked out, or if it would've. Congrats to Nomar!

My son collected Nomar baseball cards from 1994 to 2004. His goal was to get every Nomar baseball card published during those years. He has books full of hundreds of Nomar cards from when he was with the Red Sox. In 2004 when he was traded to the Cubs, my son gave it up. He searched out the remaining few Red Sox cards from that season, then put it all in a box and put it away. In his mind Nomar was no more.
It was nice to see Nomar come back if for only a day so as to retire with the Sox. If anyone comes out with a card celebrating his one-day minor league stint with the team this spring, my son will probably dig out his cards and look for that one final piece.
Whatever Nomar's motivation was for returning so as to retire with the Red Sox, he has done MLB a favor.

I'm glad to see something like this happen in pro sports. More and more everyday it seems to be just about the money. The business-end of sports seems to be more apparent, this may be due to the never ending media coverage, but at times it drives me away as a fan.
Do you think they will have Nomar throw out the first pitch at opening day? If they let Buckner do it, anything is possible!
