My Family and I adopted a 5 year old Australian Shepherd two weeks ago. He was a city dog, so I broke him in in a little conservation area by my house. He took to not wearing a lease instantly. Before I know it, Marvin was ready for the real thing.

We arrived at the trailhead in the dark. It was about 5am and 43 deg. We started in towards the falls using a flash light. It got to a point that we had to cross the river, so we stopped and made a fire at the base of the falls. The falls were very loud.

A fire ring was made already, so it was quite easy to get it done.

The sun started to rise, so I pack up and off we went.

The trails were muddy, snowy, or a run off stream.

On the Summit, It was 29 deg and very windy. Views were nice, even though there were partly cloudy skis.

Here are some pictures if you would like to see them.

If you haven’t seen Race Falls, plan a trip. I live two hours from it, and find myself going back again and again.

Gr8 pics Me, I really enjoyed them! Haven't been there myself yet, but this summer will be passing through there on my next AT section hike. Boy, that water looks cold! Good stuff. Aussie Shepherds are good dogs, really smart & love being outdoors. I'm sure he'll enjoy taking more trips w/ you.

Race Falls was crazy that day. Crossing Race Brook was real tricky.

When I pull out my pack again, I bet you Marty will go crazy.

Happy Trails

Did basically the same trip this past February. We went all the way to Jug End. It looked like we were the only ones to have been that way for a while as there were no other tracks in the snow. We lost the trail coming down on the AT at Jug End and had to bushwhack around the using the old trail. The whole section from Bear Mt to Jug End is a favorite of mine. The water falls should all be cranking pretty good with all the rain we have had.
