I'm very interested to see what you folks think about these questions. I've been wrapped up in some other projects lately, but want to focus on giving this site some attention in the next week or two.

Andrew,
My biggest wish for improvement is just more activity. Seems like there aren't frequent new postings, and people rarely respond to posts when questions are asked. It's pretty bad when there have only been 15 new posts in all of 2010 on the New Hampshire forum.
With more activity comes more useful information and the welcome environment for people to ask more questions and discuss more topics.
My two cents...

I think the only thing I would change would be to make the gallery accessible only to members
If you ever click on the link to what people are viewing, there's always a 'guest' looking at the gallery index..... always
Maybe I'm just suspicious, but that's kinda creepy

More traffic on the site would help. I’m guilty of slacking as I’ve made two recent trips to the Whites and haven’t posted any trail/trip reports or pictures.
A number of people have said that they “Glance at the homepage, and leave if nothing new.”
When that’s the case, honestly, (embarrassed to admit) I head for “Views From The Top” or “Rocks on Top”.
Maybe as members we need to contribute to “HNE” more.

So...
Would it make sense (from a user experience angle) to have the forums main page - be the homepage?
I mean, effectively it acts as the real portal to all the posts. I've been looking at the stats, and it seems like the other pages on the site are not nearly as active as the boards.
Why not blow the page out to the full width of the browser, then make the homepage the forums main view?
If this site is all based on user-interaction, to me that seems like it would feel more "community'ish" and less "website with forums'ish"
thoughts?

I posted this sometime ago, with a few responses. Hadn't heard anything from the site admin, though.
