Hey everyone,

Just wondering what you all do to train for hikes and climbs?

Currently I'm running, doing the stair master, playing basketball, and occasionally lifting.

Today for instance, I did 3 miles and 1600 ft vertical elevation gain on the stair master, played basketball for a while, and then ran 2 miles.

I think training really depends on a few things. Your age, how much time you have and what are your goals.

I am 57 and have a full time job so I really don't have a lot of time for exercise. Basically this is my workout. During the warm days (Spring-Fall) I run about 3 miles 4 days a week and "might" walk one other day for about 5 miles. During the Winter I go to the gym and do 30 minutes on the stairmaster 2 days a week and run on the treadmill for 30 minutes 2 days a week. And is that enough for me? No, but that's all the time I can put into it.
