Hey, I'm new to this forum, but today I hiked from Mt. Major to Mt. Straightback and then to Mt. Anna. The next hike I want to do is to go from Mt. Major to Mt. Straightback to Mt. Anna to Mack Mt. to Mt. Klem and then to Round Pond around Suncook Mt. to Belknap and then to Gunstock. Has anyone tried this? Do you know the area? Any recommendations?

I don’t know the area at all. I climbed Mt. Major a few years back, but that’s it for my Belknap experience. I’m curious, what do you use for a map?

I did a little research online before we went and hiked. Once we got up top we decided that we wanted to go down a different way than the way we came up, we asked another hiker and he had a printed out map (not sure where he got it). We took the "yellow/blue" trail down... Once we were about half way down there was a trail that veered off to the left.

We originally were going to hike Mt. Major and then head over to the Welch-Dickey Loop but when we saw we could head over to Mt. Straightback we did. Once we got to Mt. Straightback we saw a sign for Mt. Anna (I was hiking with my friend Anna) so we headed over there... After that we decided it was too late in the date to continue adventuring away from our car...

After I got back I did a little more research and found a map: http://www.hikenewen...knap080719.html

But instead of going straight accross I would much rather go to Mt. Straightback, Mt. Anna and Mack Mt.

I realize it was a little irresponsible to hike without a map, but I'm from the woods of Vermont and have gotten lost and found my way before... I enjoy the adventure and risk that goes along with blind hiking. I knew the Gunstock area, and I was very conscious of the time of day.

There is a map available at the Gilford Public Library which I believe is free. However, you have to get to the library during library hours to get a copy. I was wondering if you might have used that and what it might be like. I don’t know of another Belknap Range map, although there may be something else somewhere. As you mentioned, the internet is an option.
