Taking a trip to try the Franconia Ridge loop this Thurs, Fri, Sat.

Attempting it on Friday, needed to plan it a while back as we live a couple hours away and work Mon-Fri., and now I see rain and storms are predicted for the end of the week. OF COURSE!!!

I know the ridge is very exposed and dangerous for lightning and storms, and I won't mess around if it's gonna be dicey. Any suggestions for other hikes in the area so we can reach a summit or two even if it's a little rainy or stormy?

My friends and I will be staying at Lafayette campground to have a little base camp so we can cook better food than we otherwise would backpacking, and to lighten our loads by leaving lots behind we don't need. My last attempt up North Kinsman during a snow storm, I carried a 60lb pack, and needless to say I'd like a lighter load this time around.

Just got back from the climb. Weather actually broke on Friday so that we had no problems. Got up Little Haystack around 10:30, and we were amongst the clouds. But by the time we reached Lafayette and enjoyed some snacks around 12, the views from the summit were amazing.
