I wanted to do this as a day hike to Cheshire but the guy I usually hike with couldn't make it so we did an out and back.

We started at the parking lot in Dalton on High St. We had a little trouble finding it at first but we managed.

The trail runs through a very pretty forest. In the beginning it's a little wet but the folks that maintain this section have done a wonderful job of bridging the worst areas.

The trail mostly climbs for the first mile or so with some of it being steep but thankfully short. This area was obviously logged at one time and the forest roads crisscross the trail through out.

The only draw back to this entire hike was my fault. I did not bring enough water with me and ended up conserving more than I should. We crossed only one stream at the camp area and I would guess it was at risk of drying out. I would recommend if you do this hike or this section that you bring ample water. All in all it was a good time and a great day to be in the woods (aren't they all B) )
