I'm thinking of hiking Moosilauke on Monday. What would folks suggest as a good first trail to hike this peak? It almost looks like parking at the Ravine Lodge and hiking the Gorge Brook Trail would be the shortest and would also offer the possibility of doing a loop instead of an in and out hike.

Rich, I think you'll find that the Gorge Brook trail is about as easy as a 4K tail could be and the loop (Carriage/Snapper)will make things more interesting
If you have 'casual' hiking friends, this is a good way to introduce them to the joy of hiking as there's relatively little effort to reach outstanding views.

Well that is exactly what I did and I totally agree. What a pleasent hike! Thank you! Winds at the top were in the mid 40's, gusting into the 50's from what everyone (who had an opinion) could figure. Fairly breezy but dried you off quickly. And it was such a sunny day. Lovely day for a hike.

I was impressed most of all by the grass, Still pictures do not do justice to the way the wind played with the grass. Thanks again!
