Looking to possibly do a short solo hike on Monday since I have the day off! Last time I had a Monday holiday free I went to Wachusett in central MA, and it was great. About an hour & a half drive for me from the north shore. Any of y'all have recommendations on something within that distance from north eastern MA in southern NH I could check out? (and cross your fingers for good weather!) Thanks!

Can't help ya in Mass, sorry. If you put the hammer down you can make it to MWV in 1.5 hours. I know with no traffic or po po's I can make it to Conway in just about 90 mins from the Hampton Tolls.

Spring has sprung here in RI, there are a couple places in Northern RI that are nice. George Washington is one, mostly flat though. There's a 2, 4 and 8 mile loop to do, I used to take the dogs with me all the time on that one.

I mention it a lot, but Pawtuckaway has some great 3 - 5 mile loops.

It's about 30mins from North Shore (MA).

We've camped in Pawtuckaway before and LOVE it! Have hiked there too but not extensively. I may check out the Wapack trail (or part of it - Mt Watatic) on Monday - Rich sent me some great pics a while ago, which reminds me, I don't think I ever replied thanking him for that. ::off to messenger..:: I also thought possibly about Mt. Agamenticus in Maine.

You could drive up to Pack Monadnock although it might be a bit of a drive for you. That has a number of trails you can take. The parking lot is for a state park, it'll cost you to park there but then you know someone is watching the area. The state park is right on Rt 101.

So.... I went climbing yesterday & it destroyed me, so I decided to sleep in after boot camp & am just going to do something locally, maybe Halibut Point, just for a nice walk & some pictures. Boo :( at least I have Monadnock to look forward to Saturday! I'd been thinking about doing Watatic, Pack Monadnock, or even Kearsarge, so I'll have to get them in some other time :D
