Does anyone have any experience with Keen hiking boots? I am strongly considering buying the Klamath boots. I read some reviews about them wearing out too soon but I have also seen many more reviews that were positive.

I have a pair of Keens I've worn almost exclusively for about the last 2 years. I got them for $12 at an REI garage sale, they were returned because someone claimed they leaked. Well, I've worn them in rain, hail, even a little snow to trek through, never had any problems with water getting in unless I stepped into a stream! They are fantastic, comfy too. When they wear out I will definitely buy a new pair. My fiance has had several pairs of Keens bought at garage sales over the last 3-4 years, he's really rough on shoes and wears them out quickly. I think he's trashed one or two pairs so far, but again he is really rough on them and is on his feet power-walking all day at work, lol. I definitely recommend them!

Thanks for the info. This past weekend I went and looked at Keen boots as well as got my feet given a once over by a "foot guru" at EMS in Nashua (hey, it was $15 off a pair of Smartwool socks). Found out a number of things. I've always been a size 11, and apparently am still a size 11, until I stand up and then I'm a size 11.5. Anyway I had figured on getting the Keen Klamath because the sole was fairly stiff and I know I need a stiffer sole for winter hiking with crampons. However, I also tried the Oregon PCT boots. Neither boot seemed to fit just right internally speaking, however the Oregon PCT boot felt much better for the ankle. The Klamath boot was a size 12 and the Oregon PCT boot was a size 11.5, I was surprised that both boots felt so snug, especially the Klamath. The salesman mentioned he had a size 13 Oregon PCT and when I tried it on it seemed a perfect fit, so that's what I got, size 13 boots. I'm rather surprised to tell the truth. I've heard Keens sized a bit small, but size 13 is rediculous. I tried taking a walk in them after I got home, for the first time in a long time my feet felt totally fine. The proof will be the first hike. We'll see.

I bought a pair of keen recently and I loved these boots!!! I was thrilled by how comfortable and supportive they were. This all made it so much more depressing when the circumference turned out to be smaller the advertised. I ordered a 7 (I usually am a 7 in boots and 6.5 in ballet flats). My calf is 15.5 circ. Due to the lining in these boots, the circ was actually just under 15. I was so miserable having to return these. They were perfect in every other way. I would have worn them nonstop.
