So long story, but I have two little ones at home, a 20 month old and a 5 month old (don't ask me if I'm nuts, it's been clinically diagnosed). A weekend this June, I will be all by my lonesome while my wife takes them to Niagara Falls for a long weekend with her family.
Want to do a two day hiking trip, 10+ miles a day. Planning on the Whites since I didn't get up there last summer. Before I dig into some of my trail guides, figured I'd open it up to the board.
Also would love to have something that's dog friendly so I can bring my main man Murph. He's a 4 yr old chocolate lab so energy is not an issue. Also, I live on the North Shore of MA, but I want something within a 3 hour drive, which cancels out certain parts of Maine that are near and dear to my heart.
Suggestions?

I've always liked the "off the radar" places in the Whites, particularly what is now the Sandwich wilderness and the Baldface/Wild River area near Evans Notch and the state line.
Both are a fairly easy drive especially from your area

Thanks Dudley, I'll check it out. The more off the grid, the better. Any idea about dogs? How about bears?
