Hello i'm a avid hiker that loves a challenge and i married to a not so avid hiker . she likes to camp and has never been on a hike. She has said that she wouldn't mind going on a hike so my question is where in the new england area is there a beginner hike that we could hike camp for a night and then hike back ? i wouldn't mind a little drive to get there (2-3hours)and i would like if the view would make her want to do a hike again and maybe make her into a hiker.:)

thanks,
dan

The reason Mount Monadnock in southern New Hampshire is very popular is for a lot of the reasons you cite. It's a good length for beginners, depending on which trail you take -- and there are lots of choices. The views are spectacular and there is some history to the mountain. It is highly recommended. There may be some camping at the base (you'd have to check the state park) but there is also camping in the area.

Monadnock is good with two campgrounds in the park (1 at main headquarters and another at Gilson Pond). One word of advice to make sure she wants to go on a second hike with is you is to keep a pace she is comfortable with. I know that when people hike with me I push them a little further a little faster than they would sometimes like and they don't enjoy it as much. Make sure they are having fun and figure out a pace that works for the two of you.

Hello all,
my name's Manu. nice to know you all.
I got this invitation from my friend in Indonesia.
He invites me to backpack to Karimun Jawa Islands, he said there's good hiking track.
And I can dive, snorkels, or surf. Honestly, I never do this kind of activities. because I usualy indoors with my computers in doing my work at cheap kitchens leeds.
Does this Karimun Jawa is really good place to visit? I only once go to Indonesia, Which is Bali. If there's anyone who ever there could you give me suggestions?
thanks
