Hi everyone, first post and new to the forum. I just discovered the forum and and I'm very excited! I have a quick question in regards to winter hiking/backpacking. Every winter I go into upstate New York with a group of friends for a long weekend. We hike into the Adirondacks out of the Keene Valley area. We rent a cabin for the weekend which is about a 3 mile hike from the parking lot. From the cabin we have many options for some nice hikes with access to a couple 4,000+ ft peaks. My question to all of you is, is there anything similar in New England? If so where? I'm trying to set up a similar weekend but we are all getting sick of the 6+ hour drive into NY. Please let me know and thank you all very much!

Well, it would help to know where you're driving from. There are a number of AMC huts in the Whites and some other places that you can stay over in after hiking to them. Check this site.
