Got there around 10:30AM:
Started up the trail:
Which was pretty snow-packed, quite a bit icy and muddy in spots:
But still really nice. Overcast, no rain at all before we summited (if you can call climbing Major "summiting"
Took our time and made the top around 12:30:
Celebrated with a Chocolate Stout:
The view from the top:
Then it started to hail. Then pour, but it didn't dampen our moods.
So down we went!
That's pretty much it. Nice day for a hike, saw 3 other sets of hikers but only at the top and bottom. Coming down was super slick towards the top, but once it leveled out it wasn't too bad. The snow's pretty packed and a lot more slippery than the rocks, so be careful if you're going up there this early. Not a huge hassle but you need to be on the ball.
Great day for a hike all around - gotta love a day hike where you can make it up and down and back home by dinner.
