Well, i am sitting here in my office in Greenwich and i am sick and tried of the construction business. I have had the idea of opening up a camping/hiking gear store in the Hanover Nh area. I am wondering what you all would be looking for in this type of store. I want to carry more gear and less "fashion clothes" EMS is nice but they have more clothes than gear. Eventually i would like to have classes on various outdoor stuff and maybe even organize some small group trips etc. So if any of you have suggestions
or ideas i would like to hear them.

I think it's a great idea. Most stores I find seem to cater more to the "LL-Beam Day hiker". If you had a shop that carried what you really need, I think it would take off.

i did not know that and it's great info. keep it coming guys this is very helpful. Hey dudley i noticed on your profile that you have a web site. I checked it out do you run the online store? If you do i would love to pick your brain a bit. Also i grew up (or at through high school) in the quite corner Class of 1993 Putnam High School. I think your are older than me but hey its a common ground conversation starter.

Whenever I section-hike parts of the AT, I'll resupply at a store then send future supplies to myself down the trail a bit. Some stores I've been to have been located close to a post office which makes it easier for a hiker...some have even had the service of packaging supplies for you and delivering them to the post office for you.

That kind of hikers appreciation will always have me going back to those certain stores.

GEAR- GEAR - GEAR. Use it, know it, love it, SELL it ! You can get clothes just about anywhere. But, a large selection of quality , reasonably priced stuff and I'll be there. Hope this can work out for you !
