I'm looking for a basic update on what the trails are looking like in the Whites. I'm pondering the Lincoln Woods path this weekend.

Also, I'd like to add more trail condition resources to this site. Does anyone know of any tools I can get to add to a new section I want to create? Or, would anyone be willing to post each week on a special "Trail Updates" page?

My goal is to make this site a friendly user-friendly, extensive resource for outdoors activities in New England. I've been keeping in my mind the things I go online to look for and how I can add that info to this site. Any suggestions would be great.

Hiking New England is picking pretty quick. I monitor the stats each week and we are showing a constant increase in unique visitors and referring sites. If any of you want to help out, you can simply link to us from any of the other related sites you visit. All you need to do is add our link to your signature or posts on any of the other boards you post on.

This would be VERY helpful in getting this baby rolling this year. If you want, I even posted some code for you to use if you want.

I usually take a trip every weekend and would gladly post it here. I find this type of resource is better than anything - it keeps you updated to current conditions.

Monadnock tomorrow!

I'm guessing Lincoln Woods would be snow and ice free but expect there to be mud. I hiked last Saturday along the Wonalancet Range (southern arm of Passaconaway) and there was now snow until about 3000' and then we were hitting quite a bit. Postholing up to mid thigh at times! Next day at Arethusa Falls so almost no snow or ice and wasn't very muddy either. The falls and Bemis Brook were both flowing quite nicely, so expect any stream crossings your considering to be on the high side.

I'll be kayak fishing on Narragansett Bay tomorrow, at least in the morning.
I predict that conditions will be wet and windy B)
If I catch any kayaks I'll let you know

I like reading other people's trip reports for a couple reasons. First , it gives me an idea of what to expect. Could be covered in ice or bare ground w/ no water in sight. A little heads up helps me plan accordingly. Also , it's cool to me to do a hike that someone else has done and compare how their " moderate trail " compares to my " moderate trail " . Plus, when my son and I hike , there's usually something we experience that's worth sharing w/ you guys. ( I think anyways )
Oh, and redsox322 , make DAMN sure you bring bug dope. The blackflies are friggin' bad here right now!!!!!! :uhg:

Up in the Kilkenny range the snowline started about 3200 feet. The depth swtiched a bit depending on tree cover and directional exposure. It was anywheres from 3 feet to barren ground. But once up to about 3500 feet it was snow snow snow. You can also still see some large snowfield out on the Presis.
