It is an AWESOME event to participate in. If you have any questions, Silentcal is the man with the answers. He is on the Steering Comitee for Flags and has been one of a number individuals instrumental in its continuation.

Just a few amazing displays people put on.

Mt. Lincoln in 2003.

It's truly amazing what some people pull off. It's a humbling event really. Should anyone have a question, I'd be happy to answer it.

silentcal's avatar reminded me of it. I found out about it a little to late to participate last year, but I've had plenty of time to think about doing it. I think it's a great idea. So how exactly do the signups work?

In July the website opens up the sign-up sheet. All you do is pick the peak you want to go to and enter your information. If someone is already peak co-ordinator then all you do is show up to help out. If no peak co-ordinator is designated yet then you get the joy of figuring out your flying rig! :D

I'm fairly certain the signups will open to everyone on a Monday July 9th at 6 pm. If there is a change in that, I will post it here. We had about 350 hikers participate last year and the weather was less than ideal. I'm guessing we might top 400 hikers if the weather is good. I will say that peaks go VERY fast so be sure to have an alternate peak in mind if you want to be responsible for a peak. If you want to help out, there should be room on most peaks. We limit the group size to ten to abide by Wilderness Regulations. Also, this is a Leave no Trace event. Nothing gets left behind.
