I'm planning a weekend of camping/hiking with some family and friends, and I could use some recommendations. The ideal plan would be to hike in to a campsite, unpack/set-up, then hike with day packs for the remainder of the day. Then a day hike back in the morning. The experience for the group is average, so it can't be anything too crazy or strenuous, but awesome vistas are a must! Any ideas you guys could think of would be great - Mike B.

Well depends where you wanna go. I am alway partial to the Adirondaks, but that's is NY.
There are campsites at the Cardigan Mt Lodge run by the AMC but you dont really hike in to them, however there are some nice trails and views there. I will be trying out the Bonds up in the whites in few weeks there might be some capmsites along the kangamangus hwy.

Ethan Pond Shelter is a nice destination.

Hike to the shelter, Set up , then continue on the Ethan Pond Trail to Thoreau falls.

This is also another nice spot.

From Lincoln Woods head out to 13 Falls tensite. From there its spitting distance to Garfield or South Twin.
