I'll be in the Jackson/Conway area around Jun 25. When do the gnats/black flys peak there?

They will probably start swarming real soon and hit their worst right about when you will be there straight through to August/september.

Hmmm...I spent a summer in Maine (near Sugarloaf/Rangley) and I think the black flys peaked in June -- then came the ME state bird in July :)

Was hoping the black flys would peak sooner in Conway as it's further south. Guess I'll get a head net.

Its possible things may be off a bit as the winter and springs have been pretty wild. So its very possible you might squeek through unscathed.....but I would not bet on it!

bugs were not horrible this weekend in my opinion, but if you ask the others that were with me they would say otherwise. I told them wait till the end of aug thats when they ae real bad in central NH. Since were on a bug subject, anyone what yr of the saddle back worm cycle we are in. I know they are supposed to be every 7 yrs or so and they do alot of damage to the trees, but it has been awhile maybe 15 yrs since i've seen any.
