While I have this time, I am looking for a good overnight hike in the whites for Sept/Oct.
We've done Passaconaway and Jackson (hit the Mizpah hut). We're looking for a viable overnight in late September or October that we can sort out. Any suggestions? We're keen on carrying our tents, and kind to any company that likes to plan far out. There are four of us and one tends to hike up beer (which is nice).

You want an easy long overnight hike? Try Mt Isolation. Take the Rocky Branch Trail off of Rt16. At 3.7 miles, just before you cross the river you will find flat ground for setting up camp. Or if you would like, cross the river and go left about 50 feet and you will find the Rocky Branch Shelter #2. We set up the tent and it was excellent. Then go climb Isolation. The only downside is that the trail can be wet in many places.
