Spent the last week fishing the lower Cape
We fished from Monomoy to Pamet both inside and out, and caught fish everywhere we went.
Although we've made this fishing trip for 10 years, we've never fished the Monomoy flats before, thinking it was for the tourists and we did fine elsewhere, thank-you very much.
I can see the attraction.
The flats were covered with knee deep water for the full tide, and with the white sand, the fish were very easy to spot.
I only caught one there, but I had fun.
One of the regulars said the fish were not taking the normal flys and he only caught one too, so I don't feel too bad.

If you have never caught a big chopper bluefish, on the fly, from a kayak, you need to get out into CC Bay near Welfleet.
We were into them for a couple of hours. .. some of the most fun you can have with your pants on.
Actually the only other person we saw that day was an old guy paddling his sit-on-top kayak... nakid. He was having fun with his pants off

The bay seemed to fish better than both the surf side, or the south side.
We couldn't stay away from the surf though
Fly fishing the surf is a challange that more addictive every year.

As I was writing this report for the first time last night, I got a call from my boss.
Apparently they missed me so much at work that all my crew got fired or quit.
They are closing the place down.
:(
The good part is my buddy has been begging me to help him open his new restaurant in the Whites
Sounds like fishing season has just turned into hiking season

Man that sucks! If you do open a restaurant, bet sure and have Guinness on tap! You can guarantee at least one customer. :)

I'm headed up on Sunday
The new place is in Ashland on the Squam River
(I guess that's really the lakes region not the Whites)
We'll be doing a Mexican menu based on a place My buddy and I ran years ago.
He tells me we'll be opening on the First of the month
I'll be living in Thorton for the summer and commuting back here to Connecticut to keep up my house, visit with my dog and family( :( ) and other chores
I don't think there will be a bar, just table service. But you can bet we'll have some choice beers and tequilas
I hope to get in some hikes and fishing, but I know how much work I'm in for.

Oh well, it'll be fun

That is VERY cool!

Let us know when you are all set up. I'd like to come up for some of that "choice tequila"
