This house is next to a farm I used to walk by while hiking in Maudsley. It looks like a great place to vacation. You get the park next door and plenty of beaches.
I like old farmhouses.

My house in Connecticut is also a c.1789 farm house.
We bought it around 15 years ago cheap.
It had been on the market a good while because it was in rough shape.
It's still not restored to what most people would concider livable condition.
There are five fire boxes, two beehive ovens, a "meat closet" and a root celler built into the center chimney.
There were 14 rooms when we bought it, but I've taken down a few walls.
Two rooms and the front hall had original stenciling but this was not salvagable, because of the conditon of the plaster.
Some walls and ceilings have original plaster and the hand split lath
Out back there is a family cemetary, the oldest stones being from the 1830s
The place is a huge amount of work, drafty, very cold in winter and costs a fourtune to heat.
We still like it though

that’s awesome. The house I live in now (lease) is from about the same time. It has an awesome "home" feel.
New houses just don't have the same characteristics

i agree 100%. i spent 10 years growing up in Lancaster County, PA. My mom's house used to be a barn. I feel so relaxed and "home" when i'm there. there's something not only about the area, but like you said, old farmhouses just have that feel about them that newer homes don't.
