There was a bit of wind Saturday so we stayed inland and walked some of the trails in Myles Standish State Forest in Plymouth, MA. Friday we had hiked the Atlantic White Cedar Swamp Trail in Wellfleet near Marconi Beach and nearly got frostbite with all the wind. The Cedar Swamp is only 1.25 miles, but it was just nice to be out, in spite of the icy wind.
Saturday, sheltered by the trees at Myles Standish we began by hiking up the west side of East Head Reservoir. There was ice in patches along the trail, but otherwise it was all bare ground. At the northern end of the pond we bushwhacked over to New Long Pond and hiked to the northern end where we found a sheltered piece of beach on a sunny hillside for lunch. It was pleasantly warm lying in the sun for about 30 minutes eating a sandwich.
We returned on the trail that runs along the east side of East Head making it about a four mile walk in the woods in just under three hours.

I've never'hiked' the trail there, but I've fished the beach at Marconi quite at bit
The heathland terrain is fascinating .....like being on another world.
I've have to spend some time on that trail next time the fishing is slow.... and it's warm enough
