It is going to be a beautiful weekend (3/21 - 3/22) to get out, but I have to work. Is anyone planning to go hiking?

Sounds great. My kayak and canoe are both still winter-wrapped in the back yard. I have to be a baseball doubleheader Saturday and another baseball doubleheader Sunday. That’s from about 10 am to about 5 pm each day.

... talk about baseball
I understand that the Chatham A's of the Cape Cod League have changed their name to the Chatham Anglers
I can't wait get myself a hat
Don't forget about the 100* rule.....
If the water temperature and the air temperature don't add up to 100*....you need special gear...like a wet suit....
Hypothermia is big threat this time of year, especially days when the air is warm.
It's natural to dress for the nice weather, but the water is still like ice.

Yes, the Chatham Athletics (A’s) have changed their name to the Chatham Anglers and the Orleans Cardinals have become the Orleans Firebirds. The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox, Hyannis Mets, Harwich Mariners and Bourne Braves will retain their MLB team names for a least another year.
The problem with the names was the result of the company that holds the license from MLB (Majestic) to reproduce name brand products claiming that they also owned the right to any products that used the name. They claimed that teams that used names similar to MLB names were infringing on their licensing agreement. The Cape League teams were given the option to change their names or pay the licensing fee (11%) on products sold using the name. Presumably at risk was an annual donation to the league from MLB if the teams refused to comply.
It makes you wonder about all those little league, pony league, babe ruth, men’s league, etc teams that use names similar to MLB names. The irony of it all is that the Harwich Mariners existed and used the name Mariners before the Seattle Mariners came into existence. I personally like the non-MLB names.
The Cape League has a website: www.capecodbaseball.org. The new Anglers logo is probably on the website.

I had heard about Chatham changing their name, I didn't know that all the teams would eventually. My folks have a place in Dennis and I've been going to Y-D games since I was in diapers. Even went to a couple baseball camps there when I was a youngster.
Not sure how I feel about the name change, I kinda like it the way it is. It was a good mix with the Whitecaps, Kettleers, etc. Seems a little petty for MLB to do this, but what do you expect from an organization run by a boob like Selig.
Less than 3 weeks 'til the Sox open up!
