Hello all. I'm married with 2 teenage children, and I'm new to the Western MA area. I'm looking for some great places for a family hike. The Mass. website doesn't really give a lot of details to the state parks.
Mount Holyoke looked interesting to me.
Can anyone here give me some decent advice?
Thanks.

I like the Taconics. You can’t go wrong almost anywhere along the South Taconic Trail. Alander Mountain is easy and suited for kids, Bash Bish Falls/Mountain is a nice area and of course there is Greylock. My son (at the time 13) and I hiked several of the trails on Greylock. With the Bascom Lodge (opens mid-May) and the war memorial tower at the top it’s a nice reward for kids after the climb.
If you have two cars you can always spot on at the top if the kids aren’t up to a round trip.
In the Holyoke area all I’m familiar with is Mt. Tom. The M&M Trail (easy hike) from the parking lot to Mt. Tom offers some nice views to the west.

Hi Italianchica, welcome to the place! Check out http://www.mass.gov/...eate/hiking.htm . Lots of good info on places to hike. If I were to live anywhere else in MA, it would be the western part of the state. You're close to a lot of gr8 hikin' spots.

I enjoy Rattlesnake Knob. The view is great, and the whole area (The Seven Sisters) is great for family hiking.

Look for the horse caves.
