As I have done for the last 20 years or so, this Labor Day weekend will be spent
at the Buck Hill family campground in northwest RI.
The campground it self is part of the 1800 acre Buck Hill boyscout camp.
This is surrounded by state lands
Quaddic state park to the west in CT.
George Washington Management Area to the southand east
BuckHill Management Area to the north
and a third management area in RI that I don't recall the name of to the south
plus Douglas State Forest to the north in Mass.
It is one nice chunk of forest.
If you enjoy mountain biking this is a great place to be.
As for the camping, there will be around 30 of us in the one campsite
The site is that big. not expensive either.
Last year I roasted a pig in an open pit.
This year we will have a clam bake ... mmmmm.

Oh and there will be some horseshoes played and maybe a "couple" of beers consumed also

It was a little soggy....
It was a little damp...
that slowed no one down
Everyone showed up.
The guy at the fish store was happy
(we spent over $500)
The ranger at the campground was happy
(they never tell us how much they want, we just hand them a fist full of cash)
There were 36 of us in all including the "knee-highs"
There were some nubies that were very impressed at the quality of the food and how much fun we had.
Another successful Labor day weekend.
