Try parking at The Basin on Rt 93 at the southern end of Franconia Notch. Then take the Basin Cascade trail (through the tunnel under the highway). Take that trail to the Cascade Brook Trail which runs along Cascade Brook. That brook is VERY nice for little kids cause the is lots of bare granite to run around on. From there you can walk up Cascade Brook Trail as far as the little feet can carry them. It's a good hike for little kids, you don't need to go to the end of any trail.

Well, it would help to know where you're driving from. There are a number of AMC huts in the Whites and some other places that you can stay over in after hiking to them. Check this site.

I had seen this site and bookmarked it. It's a great site! I would make one suggestion. On the interactive trail map (which is outstanding BTW) the listing of the trails above the map means that the list of trails and map cannot be viewed at the same time, at least on my laptop. Is there any way to put the trail list alongside the map OR set it so that when I click on a trail, it is highlighted on the map until another trail is clicked? This way I can click on a trail and then scroll down and see the full map with the trail highlighted.
